Week 6 Hardware: Trophies Nobody Wants to Polish
A weekly tour through the league's luckiest, unluckiest, dumbest, and most powerful rosters.
Week 6 is in the books, and while the standings will sort themselves out eventually, the real story is always in the margins — the lucky wins, the bad beats, and the bench decisions that make you want to throw your phone into a lake. Let's hand out some hardware.
The Weekly Awards
The "I'd Rather Be Lucky Than Good" Award: Bush League escaped with a win over Kardiac Kids despite putting up a measly 90.12 to the Kids' 64.62. Still below the week's average, still a W in the books. Nobody's asking how, Bush League — just say thank you and walk away.
The Bad Beat Blues Award: Stinky Bastards dropped 104.74 points — a totally respectable, above-average output — and still lost, because Even Bauce Can Beat WV decided to go nuclear for 114.6. Scoring well and losing anyway is the fantasy equivalent of acing a test that somehow still fails you.
Top Score of the Week: titysprinkles2 lit it up for 140.94 points, the week's unquestioned ceiling.
Bottom Score of the Week: Hands Holzberger brought up the rear with a rough 62.3 points. Somewhere, a bye week looked more appealing.
The Bench Blunder of the Week: BourbonBandits started Jake Ferguson (2.3 pts) at tight end while Kyle Pitts (20.5 pts) rotted away on the bench. That's not a lineup decision, that's a cry for help. Somebody check on BourbonBandits.
Power Rankings
Blended from record, total points, and recent form — not just a gut-feeling popularity contest (mostly).
- I am so SMRT, D'OH — Sitting at 5-1 with the hottest recent form in the entire league (125.4 over the last three weeks). The nickname is ironic at this point; these guys are playing the smartest ball in the league right now.
- Foosball is the Devil — A strong 4-2 record and the league's second-most total points, but recent form has cooled off considerably (form rank 7). Living off the early-season fumes a bit.
- Corn Shoughers — 5-1 and humming along, though their total points (rank 5) suggest they've been winning close rather than blowing teams out. Steady, unspectacular, effective.
- 2 Yards Under — The league's single highest total points for (753.1!) stuck on a deflating 2-4 record. The fantasy gods clearly have a grudge against this team's schedule-maker.
- Even Bauce Can Beat WV — 3-3 but trending up fast, fresh off stealing a bad beat win and boasting the league's second-best recent form. Watch this team climb.
- American Idol — The league's best record at 5-1, yet sitting near the bottom in both total points (rank 9) and recent form (rank 8). Winning ugly is still winning, but the margin for error is shrinking.
- titysprinkles2 — Dropped the week's highest score (140.94) but still sits a modest 3-3 overall, middling everywhere else. Boom-or-bust energy.
- BourbonBandits — 3-3, but recent form has cratered to second-worst in the league (95.3), and that whole Ferguson-over-Pitts situation isn't helping the cause.
- Stinky Bastards — 2-4 and still stinging from this week's bad beat. Solid points total (rank 6) wasted on an ice-cold record.
- Bush League — 1-5 and leaning heavily on lucky bounces like this week's win over Kardiac Kids to stay off the absolute floor of these rankings.
- Hands Holzberger — 2-4, lowest score of the week (62.3), and the league's second-worst recent form. Rough stretch all around.
- Kardiac Kids — Dead last, 1-5, bottom of the barrel in both total points and recent form. The name promises heart-stopping excitement; the results have mostly just been heartbreak.
Power rankings blend record, total points for, and recent form (11% weight at Week 6, rising to a 25% cap by season's end). Awards based solely on Week 6 results.
